ASSOCIATION OF INDIAN AMERICANS IN NORTH AMERICA (AIANA)
AIANA…a five lettered abbreviation that resonates and represents a community bound by an immortal culture, ethics, goodwill and warmth. AIANA (Association of Indian Americans of North America) intends to revitalize the spirit of being a Gujarati and an Indian; the sprit that enlivens and strengthens the community’s work and sense of being.
AIANA represents the basic philosophy of the majority of Indian-Americans in the United States. It is an organization, which provides a platform, through culture, art as well as business and commerce, to Gujaratis worldwide, to express in many different ways.

March - Inception of AIANA – Organized the biggest ever community support event at the prestigious Madison Square Garden in New York City
September - The first ‘Chaalo Gujarat’ – AIANA organized an event where for the first time, over 20,000 Gujaratis from all walks of life and all parts of the world came and celebrated their togetherness under one roof in USA.
This event was organized in Raritan Expo Hall, New Jersey. The theme of 2006 event was “Journey of theatre, music, art and culture”.
‘Chalo Gujarat’ 2006 brought to America the best of Gujarati art, culture, literature, business acumen, political and spiritual ambiance.
The dignitaries that blessed the occasion were Sam Pitroda, Pankaj Udhas, Nirmal Udhas, Manhar Udhas, Economist Jagdish Bhagwati, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, Gujarat Industry Minister Saurabh Dalal, Morari Bapu, Parthiv Gohil, Aishwarya Majmudar, Mauli Dave, (Ravan) Arvind Trivedi, Senator Frank Lautenberg, Congressman Frank Pallon, Edison Mayor John Chui, Ambassador Ronen Sen and Ugandan Ambassador Nimisha Madhavni.
August - Biggest ever event on Gujarati Literature held at renowned Nicholas Theatre in NJ
The second edition of ‘Chaalo Gujarat’ saw increased strength in terms of presentations, participation and performances.
This event was organized in Raritan Expo Hall, New Jersey. Thirty thousand attendees from various countries benefited from the dynamic forum of industrial, cultural, academic, spiritual, social & political leaders.
The theme of 2008 event was “Past – Present – Future”. There was veritable galaxy of guests from various arenas. Heading them were the Hon. Praful Patel, Minister of Aviation, Government of India, Hon. Saurabh Patel, Minister of State, Government of Gujarat, Professor Jagdish Bhagavati – World Renowned economist, Swami Madhavpriyadasji, Swami Adyatanandji ( Shivanand Ashram – Ahmedabad), Swami Avichaldasji (Keval Sampraday), Shaktisingh Gohil (opp. Leader, Gujarat Assembly), Siddharth Patel (President-GPCC) Bharat Sinh Solanki, Ambassador Nimisha Madhwani (Uganda), U.S. Senator Hon. Frank Loutenberg. Pankaj Manhar, Nirmal Udhas, Hemraj Shah (VP Vishva Gujarati Parishad), Shekar Patel (GIHED), Indravadan Modi (Cadila), Dhanraj Nathwani (Reliance Industries), Ghanshyam Vaghasia (Rachana Group), Maulik Kotak (Chitralekha ), Jivabhai Patel (MP), Arvind Trivedi (Lankesh), Vinod Bhatt (HasyaLekhak), were also present.. Also present were, Dr. KamleshLulla (NASA Scientist), Dr. Sam Pitroda (Chairman of Knowledge Commission – India, who revolutionized India’s telecom Industries), Dr. Ashok Dhabuwala (biggest donor and event Ambassador), H.R. Shah (Chairman & CEO of TV Asia), Sudhir Vaishnav (Chairman of Sahara Samay), Ram Gadhavi (President, Gujarati Literary Academy of North America), Suresh Jani (Founding Leader of AIANA and Leader of BJP), Dr. Sudhir Parikh, Kenny Desai, M P Rama, Dr. V Dhadukand other community leaders.
This, perhaps, was one of the most organized and disciplined assembly of the extremely talented artists &guests and an equally interested audience.

‘Chaalo Gujarat’ was celebrated between August 31 and September 2.
This event was organized in Raritan Expo Hall, New Jersey. More than 30,000 attendees from various countries benefited from the dynamic forum.
One of the most amazing spectacles ever for a community was the year 2012. No one had witnessed anything like this before in terms of Glitz & Glamour, Size & Sizzle, Thoughts & Execution, Connection & Networking.
The theme of 2012 was ‘Gujarat, Gujarati, Gujaratism’.
The focus was live, believe, glorify and celebrate.
Many celebrities turned out to join this tremendous event. The then Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi interacted via video conference with the Non Resident Gujaratis living in America.
Astronaut Sunita Williams gave her recorded message to the Gujaratis gathered in the event from space. Besides, present were other celebrities like Bharat S. Solanki (MP), David B. Crabiel (Freeholder Director, Middlesex County), Shakher Patel, Swami Avichal Das, Saurabh Patel (Minister of State for Finance & Industry), Prof .Jagdish Bhagwati, (Gujarat Assembly). The Congress party's leader of the opposition Shakti Singh Gohil, I.A. Modi, Swami Adhhyatmananda and Swami Madhav Prasad, were also present.
The icing on the cake was the official proclamation by the New Jersey Governor Jon S Corzine declaring August 29 as Gujarati Day, thereby recognizing the contribution of Gujaratis to the US.
High-voltage stage shows, speeches by globally renowned Gujaratis, presence of litterateurs and eminent Gujarati artists from the field of dance and music, spectacular laser show, religious discourses, interactive seminars, multimedia presentations, property show by Gujarat Institute of Housing & Estate Developers (GIHED) – the three days of action-packed events promised something for all age groups.
